Barnyard Buddies

Barnyard Buddies is my first attempt at cartooning animals.  Will keep keeping on!

I have been creating my portfolio for a company that publishes children's books.  It has been very rewarding to see the outcome of every sketch.  The latest one I have completed is entitled 'Starry Night' rendered in watercolor.  It is not easy to deviate from having very straight lines which I have acquired from my Interior Design background.

Sometimes, I dont even like the outcome of my own work for I find it too neat.

The art work on the right is entitled 'Shoe Lace' which captures the bond between a Father and his Son.

'Playtime', the art work below is my second attempt at cartooning.  I have yet to find my own style in cartooning however, I'm getting there.  After all, pratice makes perfect.  One regret I have is not being able to continue sooner.

I know in time I will create characters which I can call my own :)

Starry Night

The stars glittered the dark skies on one starry night.

Shoe Lace

I wanted to capture the bond between a Father and Son in this art work.  Something I truly cherish every single day with what I witness between my husband and our son.

Life's Colors

Written and illustrated by Catherine G. Sunga

(An extract from the essay I wrote back in May 2002. Artwork rendered in watercolor pencil.)

'At present, whenever I look at the expression of colors I have made on that piece of paper, it reminds me of colors. The black and grey day of my life and a thought that transformed into an image of beautiful colors that one afternoon in May 2002'.

Women by the Water

This watercolor painting is my first attempt in this medium. Inspired by an African artist.

The Dream Garden

I'm gifted with a picturesque memory. The images of the sun-ripened, red shiny tomatoes, purple plump eggplants and bright orange carrots, from my Mom's garden, still have a vivid picture in my head, to this day...

This is an extract from a writing entry I submitted to a gardening magazine in Canada. It wasn't selected but it's okay. I will keep on writing!

Playtime

I'm creating my first portfolio. I'm teaching myself cartooning and 'Playtime' is my second art work in this style.
